Wilderness Medical Associates seeks highly motivated, qualified instructors to teach our courses in the USA and abroad. Our employment goal is to provide exciting, intellectually stimulating work for medical and rescue professionals who are the best in the field.
Teaching for WMA provides a flexible supplement to your existing professional workload. Depending on your availability, the amount of teaching will vary.
Successful applicants will be required to take our three day Instructor Training (IT) course offered once or twice a year before teaching. Some applicants with significant credentials may begin teaching as “Adjunct Faculty” prior to attending the IT.
Applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions made every two months (Feb. 1st, April 1st, June 1st, August 1st, Oct. 1st, Dec. 1st). For more information, please contact the WMA General Manager at 207-797-6005.

Qualifications
- EMT, RN, PA, Paramedic, DO or MD certification.
- Graduate of a WMA WALS or WEMT course (WMA WFR in some instances).
- Significant ambulance or other emergency care experience.
- Strong backcountry experience.
- Experiential or traditional teaching experience.
- Willingness to travel.
Travel
WMA courses take place all over the U.S. and on all seven continents.
