Summary:
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. This course is offered in several formats.

Registration, payment of fees, cancellation and refund policy: Enrollment is limited! To reserve a space, please please register online and send a deposit of $300, made payable to YMCA Camp Greenville, ATTN: Taylor Fay, PO Box 390, Cedar Mountain NC 28718 by November 19, 2010. A Confirmation Packet will be sent or emailed upon receipt of your deposit and the final balance will be due upon arrival. Refunds will be available up to November 19, 2010 with a cancellation request in writing, minus $50 administrative costs. No cancellations after this date. You will receive a confirmation email upon registering from tfay@ymcagreenville.org. Because camp information will be sent in a few attachments, please be sure to check all folders in your email inbox.
Prerequisites: Participants must be 18 years of age or older, unless a parent or legal guardian is taking the course.
Students must be at least sixteen years old to participate. Those under 18 years of age will require the written consent of a parent or guardian. Certain course sponsors, including those offering the five-day format, may set a higher minimum age or establish other requirements consistent with their program. No previous medical training is required.
Accommodations: Bathrooms with showers are located in each of our cabins, which will be kept nice and warm. Food and Lodging are available for $110.
Food: Three meals will be provided each day, with the exception of the day off (to be determined by instructors). There will be an expansive salad bar at lunch and dinner, and vegetarian options available at every meal.
Course Format and Arrival Time: Check-in from 8:00AM to 8:30AM on Tuesday, December 6th. Class will begin at 8:30AM each day. Early check-in (with lodging) is available on Monday, December 5th from 7:00PM to 8:00PM ($25 additional fee).
Parking: Plenty of parking is available on site.
What to bring: Be prepared for wonderful winter weather! Our cabins are camp style with bunk-beds. Please bring your own bedding. A packing list will be mailed upon registration.
Travel Directions: Asheville Regional Airport is about 45 minutes away, Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport is about an hour, the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport is 2 1/2 hours, and Atlanta Hartsfield/Jackson International is 3 hours.
Sponsor Policies: The YMCA of Greenville promotes healthy living, and, as such, smoking, drugs and alcohol are not allowed on site. Pets are not allowed. They will be happier at home!
