Summary
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.

Lodging
Three state parks are a short distance from our classroom. Young State Park, Petoskey State Park and Fishermans' Island State Park, with Youngs being the closest, about 7 miles. Several area motels offer discount rates to our students and offer rooms with microwaves and refrigerators also. Lodging and meals are not included in tuition.
Food
Lunch can be catered to the classroom for about $10/day for a hot meal. The area offers many delicatessens, wide variety of fast food restaurants, everything for the omnivore, carnivore and vegetarian. Microwave and refrigerator at Northern Cairn classroom if you bring your lunch.
