If you are certified through another wilderness medical training provider, you may recertify a WFR certification achieved or recertified within the last three years and your original WFR course must have been at least 64 hours in length. WMA International grads can recertify their WAFA, Wilderness EMT, or WFR. All Wilderness Medical Associates International certifications are valid for three years.
Open Recertification
This three-day option is available to any WFR student to recertify a Wilderness First Responder certification. WMA International Wilderness EMT graduates with a current EMT license may also recertify the wilderness portion of their WEMT with this course. This course teaches CPR to the equivalent of healthcare provider level.
Bridge (WAFA to WFR)
The primary purpose of this course is to upgrade a WAFA to a WFR. This course is also a suitable recertification option for those who hold a current Wilderness First Responder or to recertify the wilderness portion of a WMA International Wilderness EMT. This course teaches CPR to the equivalent of healthcare provider level.
Wilderness Advanced First Aid
This four-day Wilderness Advanced First Aid course will recertify all current Wilderness First Responders or the wilderness portion of a WMA International Wilderness EMT. This course includes training in CPR—single person, adult-only. WMA WAFAs can recertify in a WFA course.
Please contact Wilderness Medical Associates International if you have further questions or concerns regarding recertification options.
