Course Description

To maintain and continue the medical certification for outdoor professionals.

Wilderness Medical Associates is the definitive wilderness course in medical training, leadership, and critical thinking for outdoor, low-resource, and remote professionals and leaders.

The Wilderness First Responder program is the ideal medical training for leaders in remote areas including outdoor educators, guides, military, professional search and rescue teams, researchers, and those involved in disaster relief. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments for days and weeks if necessary.

Unlike other training providers, our instructors are licensed medical professionals. Our instructors are not just reciting information but relaying personal experience and hold a deep understanding of physiology and how pathologies progress. We also are leaders in the field as guides, first responders and instructors.

We understand that this can be a an intimidating course. We strive to use simple concepts and procedures for consistent outcomes. We understand how important it is to be open, supportive and engaging for the best learning environment.
