Course Description:
An entry-level course designed for professionals working in significantly remote settings for days or weeks.
Wilderness Advanced First Aid is comprehensive medical training designed for remote professionals or wilderness leaders who venture into remote and challenging environments. Wilderness Medicine differs significantly from standard first aid courses and other training that are oriented toward urban environments. This course teaches how to manage medical emergencies when hospitals and rescue services may not be available for an extensive time period. We prepare students for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, severe environments, and improvised equipment.

The course site is a cozy retreat centre on 75 acres of wilderness—bordering Gatineau Park!
You’ll be minutes from the awesome riverside village of Wakefield.
- Option A – Stay on-site in a comfortable shared lodging for 19 CAD/night.
Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms, WIFI, library, fireplace, cozy common areas. - Option B – Commute from Ottawa/Gatineau (30 minutes)
- Option C – Book a private room at a hotel or B&B in the village of Wakefield, 7km/4.5miles from the course location.

Bring groceries to prepare your own meals in the fully equipped kitchen.
Boreal River supplies coffee and tea.
There are grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, and bakeries a short drive away in Wakefield.
