Esker has spent the past decade working with youth and adults alike in the wilderness context. From remote whitewater canoe travel in Northern Canada to multiday expedition-style dogsledding in the Svalbard Archipelago, Esker has honed his skills in outdoor experiential education in a variety of world-class settings. When he isn't at work, he continues to play in the outdoor realm. Whether it is ultramarathon trail running, backcountry skiing, or a remote arctic ice climb - Esker's passion for adventure has helped him develop a keen understanding of wilderness risk assessment and emergency response. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation from Lakehead University and is the owner and director of Black Spruce Education - an experiential and alternative education organization.
