Genta has worked for Yokohama Fire Department for over 18 years and retired with a rank of Fire Lieutenant. Through his career, he has served as a firefighter, technical rescuer, EMT-B, and dispatcher. He is also a Japan Mountain Guide Association certified mountain guide and enjoy alpine climbing throughout the years in Japanese Northern Alps, such as Mt. Yatsugatake, Mt. Tanigawadake and Mt. Rishiri. When he climbed Matterhorn and Mont Blanc he served as a leader of his climbing party and successfully summited the mountains. Currently, he bases himself in the village of Mt. Yatsugatake. He owns and operates a retreat house, named Flan, in the village and works as a local SAR technician, mountain guide, and WMA Japan instructor.
