Others have acknowledged that Wilderness Medical Associate International certification is a valid complimentary industry skill to obtain to graduate and can help with increase your visibility as you enter the work-force. Our courses use interactive discussions, case studies, presentations, and real-life, hands-on drills to prepare you for the stress of emergencies you may face in the field.
College Credit for the Wilderness First Responder Course
In the United States:
If you would like to earn college credit for taking a WFR course, WMA International has an option for public enrollment students in the United States.
Central Michigan University

Brock University (St. Catherines, Ontario)
Offered as course offering RECL 3Q46 at Brock, the WMA Wilderness First Responder can be used for students as credit towards a Bachelors degree in Recreation and Leisure studies. Students can also take a WMA WFR outside of Brock University and apply to Brock to receive course credit.
Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, British Columbia)
The wilderness first responder is offered as course offering ADVG 203-3 and can be applied as credit towards an Adventure Guide diploma, an Adventure Sport Certificate, the Canadian Mountain and Ski Guide Diploma, or a Bachelor of Tourism Management in Adventure Tourism.
Lakehead University (Thunder Bay, Ontario)
The WMA wilderness first responder is recognized as an accepted certification for first aid requirements or the Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation at Lakehead University.
