Course Description



The best and most comprehensive course of its kind to offer relevant and realistic first-aid training for seasonal outdoor activities or short term wilderness endeavors and pursuits.

Wilderness First Aid is a two-day introduction to general medical concepts and basic life support skills. It is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. The course is taught by professional instructors with significant patient care and backcountry experience.


This WFA Course is running concurrently with the Maine Association of Search and Rescue Conference.  The conference is bringing in presenters from across the US for workshops and discussions of Search and Rescue related topics. There will be Bob Koester, noted SAR researcher giving a speech on Friday evening, and Tim Sample, well known Maine Comedian performing on Saturday evening.  Over 100 Maine Search and Rescue personnel are expected to be at the conference, with representation from all 13 volunteer SAR teams in Maine.  Additionally, on Sunday ,WFA class participants are able to take two courses from conference presenters of their choice free of charge.   

Room and Board:


Students need to bring a sleeping bag and/or their own linens—A bunk bed with a mattress will be provided.  All meals starting Friday Dinner are provided—Participants will need to bring their own breakfast and lunch for Friday.
