Jim defaulted to the outdoor recreation field after his college years at Alfred Univ. and Ariz. State Univ. He has spent over 25 years Ski Patrolling and 15 years with Outdoor Programs ranging from a private camp in Prescott, Arizona, to working with adjudicated youth in Pennsylvania, Nevada, and the Tahoe Turning Point Wilderness Program. He has taught with Lake Tahoe Community College since 1990 (Algebra, Chemistry, Wilderness Medicine, and Rock Climbing) and he currently teaches Introductory, Intermediate, and Lead Climbing and Self Rescue. Jim's first WMA class was a WEMT upgrade in Crested Butte, CO in 2000. With many years of backcountry skiing and climbing in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. He is excited that Wilderness Medicine is "coming of age" in California and is proud to help WMA achieve this. He has a son, loves to travel when he can, and working on his 'fixer upper' cabin!
