Cal McKnight

United States

Since 2002 Cal has been fully immersed in Outdoor Education and wilderness travel. Their range of work has taken them to the reaches of the US (including Alaska), Costa Rica, Panama, and the Caribbean. Their expertise ranges from instructing backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater paddling, sailing, and remote travel. Their certifications have led them to instructing American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR, Equity and Education, Ski Patrol, and assisting Swiftwater Rescue training.
Cal currently works as a Ski Patroller at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon, a Risk and Safety Consultant for adventure and survival television shows, and a Trainer and Instructor for Outward Bound. They hold a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism and are currently pursuing an MBA in Sustainability. Cal is inspired by working with youth and adults alike, learning about how to be a better ally for Social Justice, studying ways to create climate resilient communities, and understanding how to mitigate risk in backcountry settings. In their free time, Cal can be found human powering by running/hiking, backcountry split boarding, climbing, or sailing. They also enjoy the casual cup of tea and a good conversation!
