Matt Howell

Quebec, Canada

Since a young age Matt has been playing in and exploring Canada’s vast wilderness areas from the oceans, to the mountains, to the lakes and rivers.  Though Matt tries not to discriminate between landscapes he does consider himself a ‘Canadian Shield kid’, with a strong connection to and love for the rivers of the Canadian Shield, James and Hudson’s Bay low lands.  Since 2008 Matt has been the owner and Director of Missinaibi Headwaters Outfitters, guiding adult groups and taking students on experiential education journeys throughout Canada. When not paddling one of Canada’s great rivers, or instructing with WMA Matt pursues any and all outdoors activities from fly fishing, to ice and rock climbing, to dog sledding, and surfing.  Matt uses his vast outdoors experience to customize the courses he instructs to the specific needs of each member of the class
