Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our Commitment

We acknowledge that in the outdoor, medical, and educational fields, many populations have been underrepresented and underserved and therefore alienated from these fields including lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people (LGBTQ+), Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian people and individuals with diverse abilities, and others.

We dedicate ourselves to serving all students.

We recognize that our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is a journey and not a destination and that we are just beginning to do this necessary and valuable work. We are deeply committed to providing the best wilderness medicine curriculum in the most inclusive way possible.

Our recent efforts include diversity, equity, and inclusion training for instructors (participants have a DEI Logo next to their name), refined our instructor recruitment process, and upgraded our textbooks and instructional materials to include more gender-neutral language and more diverse imagery.

We appreciate your support and contributions as we define and work towards our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and welcome feedback and suggestions from our international community. Please send all questions and ideas to: .
