Join us at Hoofbeat Ridge, a beautiful family-owned equestrian camp 30 min. west of Madison, WI. Tuition includes three hot, home-cooked meals daily and on-site bunkhouse lodging steps away from the classroom. Classroom includes fireplace, central heat & AC, and quick access to outdoor spaces

Wilderness First Responder Challenge Course
This course is an intensive review and retesting of the WFR curriculum with a CPR update and other updates where protocols or treatment options may have changed. This course is taught in conjunction with Wilderness Medical Associates of Maine.

Course Details

Wilderness First Responder Recertification is a 24-hour (three-day) Wilderness Medical Associates course that must be taken once every three years to maintain your WFR certification. The course includes Wilderness Medical Associates CPR certification which is good for three years. You should allow time in the evenings to complete course homework.

In order to sign up for a WFR Recertification Course, you must have a current certification.

To prepare for your Wilderness First Responder recertification you will receive the following materials in an email:

Pre-course recertification letter
Pre-course study guide

The Wilderness Advanced First Aid is the perfect entry-level course for outdoor adventurers and outdoor professionals who may need to provide patient care when help is delayed for hours to days. The course focuses on basic lifesaving skills, patient assessment, field care for common injuries and illnesses, environmental illnesses, and proper reporting for rescue assistance.

Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to be included on the meal plan and to what extent. We ask that you choose the option that best suits you for all days of the course, as MKC cannot accommodate variations in meals on different days, e.g. you choose lunch-only one day and dinner-only another.

Course is offered in beautiful Kanab, UT. Incredible National Parks, slot canyons, jeep tours, hiking, biking, and so much more are available right outside of the classroom.

Ideal environment for learning wilderness medical skills – forests, rock wall, streams, quarry, seashore, sailboat – all on site.   Course will be led by Jon Tierney, IFMGA/AMGA Mountain Guide, Flight and Wilderness Paramedic, FAWM and RN along with other members of the Acadia Mountain Guides team of highly skilled and experienced wilderness medicine instructors.
