This course will run as a 4-day WAFA, then a 4-day bridge with a day off in between.

The Wilderness First Responder is a comprehensive medical training for outdoor educators, guides, professional search and rescue teams, and others who work and adventure in remote settings. Learn the essential skills, knowledge, and critical thinking required to assess and manage medical problems in low-resource environments for days and weeks if necessary.

Come enjoy the start of summer nestled between snow capped peaks in the spectacular Eastern Sierra region of California.  With ready access to skiing, climbing and camping galore, it’s an outdoors paradise and the perfect place to increase your knowledge and practice your skills.

This course will be outside of Mammoth Lakes, the world class ski and mountain bike town.

Course is offered in beautiful Kanab, UT. Incredible National Parks, slot canyons, jeep tours, hiking, biking, and so much more are available right outside of the classroom.

Course is offered in beautiful Boulder, CO. World-class climbing, hiking, skiing and so much more are available just outside the classroom.

Ideal environment for learning wilderness medical skills – forests, rock wall, streams, quarry, seashore, sailboat – all on site.   Course will be led by Jon Tierney, IFMGA/AMGA Mountain Guide, Flight and Wilderness Paramedic, FAWM and RN along with other members of the Acadia Mountain Guides team of highly skilled and experienced wilderness medicine instructors. Free car or tent camping (including clean portable toilets and showers) is available, and the nearest grocery store is just 10 minutes away. Our location is just over an hour north of Portland, OR, and is nestled at the base of Gifford Pinchot National Forest

Camping & food outlets available. This is a 7-day WFR course and all instruction takes place during the course (no pre course work is required. Students will need to complete registrations and liability paperwork prior to the course start.
